Works and Operations |

The Department presently employs six full time staff, one permanent part time clerical staff, eleven seasonal staff (May 1 st to October 31 st ), and five permanent part time gate attendants. All staff are unionized.

Regular Ongoing work:
- Effective Customer Service delivery
- Road maintenance (490 kms)
- Road side mowing and public reserve mowing (2 to 3 times per year)
- Beaver control
- Drainage works (including obtaining levels and developing profiles)
- Leveling of spoil piles from drainage works
- Hauling mud from drainage works
- Ensuring aggregate supplies
- Gravel hauling
- Drainage of Lagoon cell #2 (June 1 st to October 31 st )
- Operation of two transfer stations (PR #313 and PR #214)
- Operation of a two cell lagoon (PR #520)
- Transportation of recyclables to Env. Options (every Tuesday morning)
- Hauling metal to Mandak (every Monday)
- Hauling household waste to St. Clements landfill (2 trips per day, Tues to Fri.)
- Pushing burn piles at #313 TS
- Replacement of road name signs and traffic control signs
- Snow removal
- Placement of snow fencing
- Pre-flooding work (removal of snow from ditches)
- Dust control applications (one application per year fronting residential housing)
- Machinery capital purchases
- Machinery maintenance and repair
- Stocking of machine maintenance supplies (filters, oils, etc.)
- Stocking of spare machine parts (tires, blades, etc.)
- Ongoing Workplace, Health and Safety Program
- Maintenance of Administrative and Works & Operations Yard sites
- Maintenance of four public boat launch sites
- Maintenance of two main parks sites ( Winnipeg River Bridge Park and Halliday Park ), and several smaller park sites
- Maintenance of eight cemeteries

The Department also utilizes the services of a engineering technologist who is under contract with the Municipality.
|
|
Grass cutting work at the cemeteries, parks, and administrative grounds is contracted each summer. Once per season, trucks are hired for the main gravel haul program.
Other contract work would include road rebuilding and some larger drainage projects.
